First Look at Johnny Depp on the Set of 'The Tourist'

After wrapping "Alice in Wonderland", Johnny Depp is back acting in front of camera for the production of "The Tourist". On Monday, March 1, the actor was seen shooting his scene in Venice, Italy.
Some of the pictures taken from the film's set capture Depp standing on the balcony overlooking the main floor of the Palazzo Oisani Moretta over the Grand Canal while holding a glass of drink. He shot his part alone without his co-star Angelina Jolie, who has previously kicked off the principal photography on February 23 in Paris, France.
In "The Tourist", Depp plays an American tourist who finds his life in danger when a female Interpol agent uses him as a dupe to flush out an elusive criminal with whom she once had an affair. Jolie, meanwhile, takes the role of the Interpol agent.
This remake of 2005 French film entitled "Anthony Zimmer" has Florian
Henckel von Donnersmarck serving behind the lens. Christopher McQuarrie
teams up with Jeffrey Nachmanoff and Julian Fellowes to provide the script
for this thriller which is slated for 2011 release.

Johnny Depp’s hair got the V05 hot oil treatment
Here’s Johnny Depp filming The Tourist today in Venice. He cleans up good, doesn’t he? I was getting so tired of those f-cking glasses. I like his trimmed facial hair, but other than that, Depp appears a little too coiffed for my tastes. He looks like he got the Orlando Bloom V05 treatment, you know? Like an hour before these photos were taken, his hair was in curlers. Ah, whatever.
In other Depp news, he and his girl Vanessa Paradis are going to work
together in a just-announced film called My American Lover. Paradis will
play French feminist Simone de Beauvoir… which is kind of wrong. De Beauvoir
was the longtime lover/partner of Jean-Paul Sartre, and Depp will be playing
de Beauvoir’s American lover Nelson Algren. Here’s a photo of the real

Angelina Jolie proved she's very much a working mum as she took Pax, one of her six children, on the set of her new movie.
Angelina is filming new flick The Tourist in Paris and took the opportunity to show Pax what mum does for a living.
Ange stars opposite Johnny Depp in the film, and talking at the Alice In Wonderland premiere last night, he had nothing but praise for his new leading lady.

He said: "I had never met Angelina before, but I found her to be a real treat, I mean a real doll.
"She is a nice woman, serious about what she does and loves her man
and loves her kids. I was very impressed,"

The Tourist Script Review

After a few personnel shifts, The Tourist is starting production next week without the likes of once-attached Tom Cruise, Charlize Theron, or Sam Worthington. Instead, the film will mark the long-awaited pairing of Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp for Spyglass Entertainment’s remake of the French thriller Anthony Zimmer.
Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, director of the Oscar-winning The Lives of Others, is set to direct his first studio film, but before production gets underway in Venice I thought we’d take a look at the script by Julian Fellowes, who won an Oscar of his own for writing Gosford Park.
Angelina JolieJolie plays Cara, an elegant beauty who captures the attention of all men. Her talents begin and end with talking and looking sexy, so don’t expect much from Jolie’s performance other than what already comes natural. Though as the seductive lead and the only intriguing character throughout, it’s not a bad part for the star actress.
She’s the stunning lady friend of Alexander Pearce, an international thief and cunning numbers man who managed to make off with $744 million in unpaid taxes. Explained through Powerpoint slides in a joint task force conference room, Pearce’s scheme was essentially laundering money through the Cayman Islands, which has never been done before…
This cliché crime has made Pearce an assortment of global enemies ranging from a coalition of government agencies to a particularly angry Russian mobster named Ivan Demidov. To elude a lifetime in prison or a bullet in the back of his head, Pearce undergoes “extensive plastic surgery” to change his appearance, like some kind of cheap James Bond villain.
Representatives from the various effected countries are virtually interchangeable, a blurred-together team of one-dimensional trackers with laminates. Even Ackerman, who is described as “Tommy Lee Jones from The Fugitive,” is the hackneyed Ahab type, barking orders and stalking his elusive prey.
Johnny DeppIn order to throw off the authorities tailing her, Cara uses someone with a similar build to Pearce as a decoy. Enter the title character, an innocent American traveler named Frank (Depp) now mixed up in a dangerous game of cat and mouse. The government agents, Demidov’s henchmen, and especially Frank all mistake her flirtations for genuine affection and soon he’s the target.
After setting him up as the mark, Cara ditches Frank to fend for himself against Demidov’s goons. This means foot chases through Venice streets, Bourne style building jumping, and a squealing tire escape through a crowded parking garage.
Soon Frank is picked up by officials who fill in the details on why Russians are going through all the trouble to kill him. When Cara conveniently resurfaces he’s full of questions like “Why didn’t you tell me?” and “Where is this Pearce guy?” If Frank wasn’t the typical dumb American before, he’s clearly clueless now.
The finale and the “big reveal” of Pearce could use an overhaul. The twist is obvious (to me any way) and the “unmasking” reminded me of a cheesy Scooby Doo ending. “I would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for you pesky kids!” It doesn’t seem like a swerve cleverly conceived from start to finish, so it’s not likely to get much more of a reaction than, “Oh, it was him? All right.” It won’t have people talking or comparing him to Keyser Soze just shrugs of indifference and puzzling over the leaps in logic.
Without a strong third act, the script reads like a spy romance novel
and a cheap Jason Bourne knock-off. There are sultry exchanges, multiple
chase scenes, and a shootout or two, but the action seems familiar and
the mystery leads no where. Based on the script version I read, The
Tourist appears to be a disappointment in the making. How did such
talented people get involved?

Johnny Depp was asked how the filming for "The Accidental Tourist" -- with Angelina Jolie -- is going. (Note from Kazren - Johnny is filming "The Tourist" not "The Accidental Tourist)
"We haven't started yet," he replied.
"When do you start?" pressed the reporter.
"Tuesday, I think," Depp said, sounding unsure, which made the conference crowd chuckle.
Burton, seated next to him, turned to his pal Depp and asked, "How do you think it's going to go?" which no doubt would have been the reporter's next question.
"I think it's going to go just fine," Depp said with a grin, adding, "I think there are going to be a lot of paparazzi," most likely referring to a) his and Angelina's presence and/or b) the pap swarms trailing Angelina, Brad Pitt and their brood, (reported to be on vacation in Venice) around the watery byways the Italian city.
He's a funny guy, that Johnny. But he's right, the star wattage of these
two filming a movie together is a sure-fire draw for international paparazzi.

You're never too young to play tourist if you're kin to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
After spending several months in Los Angeles – with a few weeks in New York – the international family of eight headed to Venice, Italy, on Monday, where Jolie is soon expected to begin shooting her upcoming thriller, The Tourist, with Johnny Depp.
Last week, Jolie went on a three-day trip to earthquake-ravaged Haiti
and the neighboring Dominican Republic before joining Pitt and the kids
for a long Valentine's Day weekend in Los Angeles. Friday turned out to
be family night, with the entire Jolie-Pitt brood enjoying a sizzling dinner
at a Benihana Japanese Steakhouse.

The next evening Pitt, 46, and Jolie, 34, stepped out for a private event at The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. The family laid low on Valentine's Day Sunday – then jetted off to Venice on Monday.
It didn't take long for them to be spotted grabbing some ice cream while they took in their new, temporary home. Even the rarely-seen twins, Vivienne and Knox, were spotted in mom and dad's arms boarding a water taxi.
Should they return to their European base at Chateau Miraval during
their stay, the family will be able to enjoy a new addition to the property:
a 300-to-400-year-old olive tree purchased at English Garden Center in
Opio, France, which is scheduled to be planted at Miraval this spring.

Tenuous connection: Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie are set to star in an upcoming movie, and Star magazine says the two will soon be an item..
Heeere we go again. Just as the din of Brangelina breakup rumors is dying down, Star magazine has decided that Angelina Jolie is after Johnny Depp. Evidently, the mere fact that the two are set to star in an upcoming movie together is enough for the tabloid to predict she plans to pounce on him.
The Oscar winner supposedly insisted on having one-on-one meetings at Johnny’s house to “discuss his acting method,” a source said (because, you know, his acting really needs work). “She’s already spent hours there drinking red wine with Johnny,” the so-called insider said.
Of course, both celebs, though unmarried, already have longtime partners and kids (Johnny’s lady love is French singer Vanessa Paradis; you may have heard something about Angelina seeing Brad Pitt).
But the “Tomb Raider” star — who, granted, has a history of co-star hookups — evidently isn’t bothered by the prospect of wrecking their respective homes. Her shoot with Johnny kicks off in Venice soon, and “Angie told Brad she’s going to Italy without him,” the source said. “Angie knows what she wants, and she doesn’t want Brad in the way!”
If you think this breathless tale is over the top, just wait till paps snap the first photo of Angie and Johnny on set together.

Jolie, 34, will surely be keen to be on her best behaviour after she was accused of stealing Brad Pitt away from Jennifer Aniston on the 2005 set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
The actress did her best to silence whispers that she and Brad were in the pits after attending the Directors Guild Awards with him on Saturday, although she refused to be photographed with her man.
Meanwhile, it was announced this week Depp, 46 and co-star Anne Hathaway
will enjoy a royal premiere when Prince Charles and Camilla attend the
world premiere of Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland in London's Leicester
Square on February 25.

“She’s already started—with the same wiles she used to lure Brad out of his marriage to Jennifer Aniston on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” a source told American magazine Star.
“While going over the script, Angie insisted that she needed to meet alone with Johnny at his LA compound to discuss his acting method.
“She’s already spent hours there drinking red wine with Johnny. She has en been bombarding him with flirty e-mails and burning up the phone lines.
“She goes on and on about how fabulous Johnny is. She’s intense and

According to a draft of writer Julian Fellowes‘ screenplay, obtained by American magazine Life & Style, Jolie — who is set to play Interpol agent Cara Mason — apparently gets VERY intimate with her new leading man Depp –who’s taking on the role of Frank Taylor, an American tourist whom Angie’s character uses to get what she wants.
“The outline of her naked body is visible in the shower,” says the script, describing one provocative dream sequence.
“Frank walks to the shower and opens the glass door. Walking in, he lifts Cara against the glass, clutching at her slithery body, kissing her frantically. She kisses him back with ardor, wrapping her dripping legs around his back.”
Jolie and Depp’s partners — Brad Pitt and Vanessa Paradis, respectively — must be quaking in their boots!
Pitt’s ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston is probably laughing her head off somewhere!
Johnny and Angelina will be filming their sexy scenes by February, according to Variety.
Meanwhile, it has been claimed that the Tomb Raider star hates Barack Obama.
“She hates him,” a Jolie insider told Us Weekly magazine. “She’s into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts. She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise.

The screenplay goes on to describe a scene in which Jolie's character of Cara "turns abruptly to Frank and presses her body against his ... They exchange a long, passionate kiss."
Later on, the sexual desires continue, and one scene goes as such: "Their lips meet. They kiss. And kiss. Like drinking from a fresh spring in the desert ... Gently, careful, Frank slips his hands into Cara's cleavage. Surprised, Cara starts to pull back — but Frank puts a finger to her lips. She hesitates, looks at him questioningly. The Pirates of The Caribbean star is said to be in talks to replace Sam Worthington, who dropped out over creative differences, as has director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck.
Alfonso Cuaron is in early talks to take over the director’s chair.
The role would see Depp play an American tourist drawn into a web of
intrigue by a female Interpol agent (Jolie) who is attempting to locate
a criminal who was once her lover.
