Depp Could Capture Kids' Choice Award
Johnny Depp Could Collect Treasure for 'Pirates' Movie at Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards

By JOHN ROGERS

LOS ANGELES Mar 31, 2007 (AP)— The tanks were loaded with green slime Saturday for the 20th annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, Hollywood's messiest, most raucous celebration honoring kid viewers' personal picks for best movies, music and TV shows.

Among the front-runners was Johnny Depp, poised to collect two awards should he win for favorite actor and his film "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" take the prize for favorite movie.

Depp helped establish himself as a Kids' Choice favorite at the 2005 show when he was the celebrity sliming victim during the popular ritual in which gallons of green goo rain down on someone during the festivities. Other past recipients of the honor have included Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, Will Ferrell, Mike Meyers and Pink, the latter being the only person for whom pink goo was substituted.

"Every celebrity that's showing up better have eyes in the back of their head because there will be slime," said this year's host, Justin Timberlake.

"It was the first thing on my rider when I took this job," Timberlake, who is also a nominee for favorite male singer, told the AP before the show. "We have to use more slime than we've ever used. Ever! I made a promise that we would."

Other front-runners included last year's favorite TV actor, Drake Bell, nominated in that category again. Also nominated was his popular teen comedy, "Drake & Josh," which won the favorite show award in 2006.

In the favorite cartoon category, the venerable "SpongeBob SquarePants" was in the running for a fifth consecutive trophy.

Grammy winners Gwen Stefani and Maroon 5 were scheduled to perform during the show, which was to include appearances by kid favorites Hilary Duff, Queen Latifah, Mike Meyers, Jamie Lynn Spears, Emma Roberts and Zac Efron.

The show is carried live to the East Coast from UCLA's Pauley Pavilion on the Nickelodeon cable network, and taped for broadcast on the West Coast and Europe, Russia, Israel, Asia, Australia and Latin America.

Kids vote online to select the winners in each category. Approximately 25 million votes were cast last year, according to Nickelodeon.

f Depp's onboard, 'Pirates' may keep sailing
By Mary McNamara, Times Staff Writer

"At World's End" may not be the end of the world.

Word on the Walt Disney Studios backlot is that, while "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," which opens on Memorial Day weekend, is the end of the trilogy, it may not be the end of the franchise.

According to insiders, Johnny Depp has said he would be interested in keeping the swaggering Capt. Jack Sparrow alive in other pirate adventures and, as the film's production director Rick Heinrichs says, "If Johnny's interested, why wouldn't they?"

Many of the larger set pieces have been kept and put in storage.

Costar Orlando Bloom says he too has heard the rumors.

"But they haven't said anything to me," he said with a laugh during an interview, "so I guess I'm not coming back."

In the meantime, those left hanging by "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" need have no fear — "World's End" promises a complete end to the story begun in 2003's "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl."

"All questions will be answered," Bloom says.

Depp 'not moving to Broomfield'
By Phil Hill

THERE was bad news for Johnny Depp fans this week with firm denials that he had bought a house on the Quantocks.

Rumours have been circulating that the Hollywood heartthrob of Pirates of the Caribbean had spent £2.5million on Timbercombe House, in Broomfield.

It was claimed that he and his partner, French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis, were moving in with their two children, who had apparently been booked into an independent school in Taunton.

But Depp's agent, the man who sold the house and the estate agents all deny the star had snapped up the 150-year-old former hunting lodge.

Depp, Banderas To Call 'Sin City' Home? Rodriguez, Dawson Talk Sequels
Fans should expect anything but a "regular" experience in the third "Sin City." Rodriguez suggested it will revolve around "Hell and Back," the story of Wallace, a brooding artist who, due to being drugged repetitively, wanders through most of the tale hallucinating.

But if you think that's weird, wait until you see how it's played ... by Johnny Depp?

"He was interested in doing the Jackie Boy character that Benicio [del Toro] played [in the first one], but he was doing that movie 'Libertine' in Europe and it just kept getting pushed and delayed and went right through our shooting schedule," Rodriquez said of the actor he directed in "Once Upon a Time in Mexico." "But there is a better role for him in ['Hell and Back']. I kept going, 'Gosh, Jackie Boy is a small part, he could be really good [as Wallace].' When he wasn't available, I thought maybe it was meant to be."

While no deal is in place for Depp at the moment, Rodriguez seemed coyly confident they would get the Oscar-nominated actor. The director was equally excited about potentially casting another of his old favorites, Antonio Banderas.

CAP: Cover-worthy and a brilliant actor to boot - what more could Johnny Depp want for?

Unlike most Hollywood actors who had to be tweezed, tucked and plucked into perfection while on their journey to superstardom, Johnny Depp was drop-dead gorgeous from the moment he was first caught on camera. And despite the fact that he has increasingly chosen to adopt a less-than-flattering 'hobo chic' fashion motif, he still can't quite conceal those chiselled Red-Indian cheek bones, rosebud lips and rich chocolate eyes.

Yup, partner Vanessa Paradis is one lucky gal for having bagged the man most women around the world will only ever dream about - and the fact that he remains completely unaffected by his fame and fortune simply serves to make him even more appealing.

Tonight's True Hollywood Story traces Johnny's steps from his days as a fresh-faced rookie cop on teen drama, 21 Jump Street, right through to his current status as a much-sought-after A-list actor.

And what would a celebrity life-story be without the high drama romantic make-ups and break-ups along the way, with women who included the likes of Kate Moss and Winona Ryder - to both of whom he was once engaged?

Johnny Depp's Daughter Had E.coli Virus.

JOHNNY DEPP's daughter LILY-ROSE was lucky to survive a battle with the deadly E.coli virus, according to reports.

The seven-year-old was hospitalised in London earlier this month suffering a mystery illness. It was reported at the time that she had contracted blood poisoning after stepping on a rusty nail.

But a member of the production crew on Depp's new movie SWEENEY TODD claims her kidneys were shut down by the virus, which is caught through infected food and drink.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Everyone gasped when we were given the real reason for Lily-Rose's illness. It was touch and go for a while."

Filming on Sweeney Todd - directed by TIM BURTON - was stalled while Depp and partner VANESSA PARADIS kept a bedside vigil for Lily-Rose. It is due to resume next week

Old Mack is back in Frederick
 Thursday, March 22, 2007

Director Tim Burton is at work on a big-screen adaptation of "The Threepenny Opera" starring Johnny Depp and due next year.

But fans of the classic Bertold Brecht and Kurt Weill musical won't have to wait that long.

A traditional stage rendering of "The Threepenny Opera" by the Maryland Ensemble Theatre will open Friday in Frederick and will run at the FSK Hotel through April 28.

Contrary to its name, the play is not actually an opera but an early form of musical comedy. Set in Victorian England, it centers on Macheath (famously nicknamed Mack the Knife), a mob leader who reigns over a large city who clashes with the equally malevolent J.J. Peachum, a businessman from a nearby hood.

Jeff Goeller stars as Macheath, Tad Janes takes on the role of Peachum and Kayte Curtis plays Polly. Karen Paone plays Penny the prostitute. Julie Herber directs the musical, which features 20 songs, including "Ballad of Mack the Knife," which re-emerged as a pop hit in the 1950s, sung as a standard by artists like Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra.

"The Threepenny Opera" debuted in 1928 and is based on an 18th-century English ballad opera. It is widely seen as a socialist critique of capitalism. Composer Weill was forced to flee Nazi Germany in 1933 with his parents to avoid persecution for being a Jew. In 1935, he moved to the United States and had a string of Broadway and Hollywood success with various compositions. His most popular work was "The Threepenny Opera," which has been revived on Broadway many times, most recently in 2006.

Broomfield buy for Johnny Depp?

RUMOURS that Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp has moved to the South West (England) gathered pace this week, amid speculation he has splashed out on a £2.5million house in Broomfield.

Despite previous reports in the national press claiming that the Pirates of the Caribbean star had set up home in Timsbury, near Bath, it is now understood the Quantock Hills may be his chosen location.

Several sources claim that Depp, 43, and his partner, French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis, have snapped up a bolt hole in the picturesque hamlet.

Local people have been on the look out to try and catch a glimpse of the couple.

It has also been suggested their children have been booked into a local independent school in Taunton.

Estate agents approached by The Mercury would "neither confirm nor deny" that they had sold a property to the actor.

Depp is regarded as one of Hollywood's finest talents, and is famed for his diverse roles in films including Edward Scissorhands, Donnie Brascoe, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas and From Hell.

Everyone asked about Johnny Depp
BY SUSAN STEINMUELLER
STAFF WRITER

What's it like to work with Johnny Depp?

That seemed to be the question everyone asked Troy alumni and actor Marty Klebba Friday, from students to reporters. Klebba understands. He's a big fan himself.

"I don't know if you guys have heroes but to be able to work with one of your heroes is incredible, awesome," said Klebba, who acts in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies in which the iconic Depp stars.

Earlier Klebba said in an interview, "He is one of the best actors of all time to me."

Klebba said Depp doesn't make movies just for money but picks challenging scripts. And, "He turns in the gold."

Many think that Klebba is pretty awesome himself.

Krista Manfredi, Troy Athens performing arts teacher, said that when Klebba was her student his talent was evident.

"He was pretty good," she said. "When we did Grease, he was the toughest guy on the lot."

She's naturally proud of his success in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and many other roles. While he's perfected his craft, she said, it all began on the Athens stage.

"I gave him his first pirate job," she said of his first role in Peter Pan.

Klebba also has a recurring role in the television movie Scrubs. Another former student, Chris Wood, has appeared on it too, Manfredi said. "The thing that's really cool is that he stays in touch with all his friends. My theater guys still hang together though they've gone into different professions."

Then -- the Johnny Depp thing again ...

"The only thing I was mad about, he didn't invite down on the set so I could meet Johnny Depp!"

Ms Nair said the script would cover Roberts' Melbourne years. "I hope (to shoot there) but it's too early to tell," she said.

Johnny Depp’s Daughter Now Out of Hospital

Johnny Depp’s child, Lily-Rose, has been discharged from a London based - hospital after a scary attack of blood poisoning.

Depp and partner Vanessa Paradis had been keeping a vigil at the child's bedside since she was admitted to London's Great Ormond Street Hospital at the end of February.

A source close to Depp tells American publication Us Weekly, "She is doing much better."

Despite media reports she had developed the condition after stepping on a rusty nail, the cause has not been confirmed.

The source says, "They don't know how she got it."

The 43-year-old actor is currently filming a movie version of the stage musical Sweeney Todd in England, which was temporarily put on hold while his daughter, was in hospital.

Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd" On Hold?
Production on Tim Burton's big screen adaptation of "Sweeney Todd" has apparently been halted according to the British tabloids.

Depp's four-year-old daughter Lily-Rose has apparentlycome down with an undisclosed illness in late February and Depp has refused to continue acting for the moment to be by her side as she recovers. He's remained at his child's bedside ever since.

Truly noble and sweet, but there's some fallout due to this. According to The Daily Mirror, the production staff at Pinewood Studios have been told that they will lose their jobs this weekend if Depp does not return to the movie set.

"He does not want to come back until Lily-Rose gets the all-clear. The plan is to re-employ everybody when she gets better." says a source.

Depp's daughter is on the mend

By THOMAS WHITAKER
March 09, 2007

HOLLYWOOD superstar JOHNNY DEPP's sick daughter LILY-ROSE has left hospital after nine days.

The seven-year-old is “doing much better” and has been taken back to the London hotel where Depp, 43, and long-term love VANESSA PARADIS, 34, are staying.

An onlooker said: “Johnny carefully lifted her from the car, held her close and carried her in. He looked ill with worry.”

Depp, who is making a film version of the musical Sweeney Todd, left the set at Pinewood in Buckinghamshire after Lily-Rose fell ill.

Film-maker Dreamworks said they had “adjusted the schedule to accommodate his needs”.

A film source added: “He’s on leave until she recovers.”

It is understood the delays could cost £2million.

Depp collected Lily-Rose on Wednesday, but she will have to return to the London hospital for treatment.

His publicist Robin Baum said last night Lily-Rose was “doing much better”.

Depp, who often takes her and son Jack, four, on location, said: “I just want to watch my children grow up and make sure they’re healthy and happy.”

Johnny Depp's Daugher - Lily-Rose - Recovering After Hospitalization
By Eric Fleming
March 08, 2007

Lily-Rose, the 7-year-old daughter of Hollywood star Johnny Depp (star of such films as "Edward Scissorhands," "Donnie Brasco," and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise), is apparently doing "much better" after having been admitted to a British hospital nine days ago. The reason for her hospitalization has officially remained unidentified, but progress has been made, according a statement from Depp's publicist, Robin Baum.

"We are happy to report that their daughter is doing much better," Baum said, referring to Depp's child with French singer Vanessa Paradis. "The family greatly appreciated the continued support and respect of their privacy."

Previously, the Daily Mirror newspaper had said Lily-Rose was admitted to the hospital more than a week ago, and was said to be in serious condition. The paper also said it knew the location of the hospital and the reason for treatment, but was not revealing specifics out of respect for the actor and his family.

A U.S. publication, In Touch magazine, said the illness was actually blood poisoning, stemming from the child having stepped on a rusty nail. Neither the hospital nor Depp's publicist confirmed the statement.

A source at the hospital Lily-Rose was admitted to, quoted in the Daily Mirror, says the girl is doing well, and so are her parents.

"They are worried sick, but Lily-Rose is getting the very best treatment available. Johnny has not asked for any special favours but just wants the best for his child, like any parent.

"It is such a difficult time for him but he is hanging in there for the sake of his daughter and the whole family is just praying that she gets better. They are taking each day as it comes.

"It's been an emotional rollercoaster for all of them, and he has been finding it hard keeping it together. He's a devoted dad and is spending as much time as he can with Lily."

Depp, who has often talked about how much having children has changed his life, was in England to begin shooting Sweeney Todd, when his daughter became ill. That movie is based on the music by Stephen Sondheim, and the movie will be directed by Depp's director pal, Tim Burton.

Depp and Paradis also have a four-year-old son, named Jack.

Publicist: Depp's ailing child 'much better'
POSTED: 3:41 p.m. EST, March 8, 2007

LONDON, England (AP) -- Johnny Depp's 7-year-old daughter, who has reportedly been receiving treatment in a British hospital, is "much better," the star's publicist said Thursday.

Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper reported that Lily-Rose, daughter of Depp and French singer Vanessa Paradis, was admitted to a hospital nine days ago and was in a serious condition. The newspaper said Thursday it knew the location of the hospital and the nature of the child's ailment, but wasn't revealing details to preserve the family's privacy.

"We are happy to report that their daughter is doing much better," said Depp's publicist, Robin Baum. "The family greatly appreciates the continued support and respect of their privacy."

Depp, 43, is in Britain to film "Sweeney Todd," director Tim Burton's musical about the legendary "demon barber of Fleet Street."

Depp and Paradis also have a 4-year-old son, Jack.

Depp update: Lily Rose okay, illness revealed
By Stone Martindale Mar 8, 2007, 22:11 GMT

Johnny Depp's daughter is doing "much better," according to his publicist today following a British paper's report that the child had been admitted to hospital for a serious condition.

"We are happy to report that their daughter is doing much better," Depp's publicist, Robin Baum, said of Lily Rose, the actor's daughter with longtime partner Vanessa Paradis.

Johnny Depp's daughter was rushed to a London hospital, and the cause of Lily Rose's mysterious ailment is allegedly the result of infection caused by a rusty tack.

According to In Touch magazine, "the wound was left untreated" and "blood poisoning developed. It has now spread through her body and has affected her vital organs."

While there have been several conflicting reports on the severity of Lily Rose's condition, Depp's reps tell the AP that she is "doing much better." The actor has reportedly not left Lily Rose's bedside since she was admitted to the hospital on February 28.

Depp is in the U.K. filming Tim Burton's film adaptation of the musical Sweeney Todd.

DEPP'S VIGIL FOR SICK DAUGHTER
SEVEN-YEAR-OLD LILY-ROSE IN HOSPITAL IN BRITAIN
Exclusive by Fiona Cummins And Stephen Moyes 08/03/2007

STUNNED Johnny Depp is frantic with worry as beloved daughter Lily-Rose lies seriously ill, a hospital source said yesterday.

The 43-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star and partner Vanessa Paradis have barely left the little girl's bedside since she was rushed to hospital nine days ago.

The source said: "The staff immediately recognised him when he walked through the door. He has not asked for any special favours but just wants the best for his child, like any parent.

"It is such a difficult time for him but he is hanging in there for the sake of his daughter and the whole family is just praying that she gets better. They are taking each day as it comes.

"It's been an emotional rollercoaster for all of them and he's been worrying himself silly. He wouldn't wish this on anyone and has been finding it hard keeping it together. He's a devoted dad and is spending as much time as he can with Lily."

Johnny has been using a staff entrance to get into the hospital without attracting attention. He arrives for visits in a blacked-out people carrier.

The actor, currently shooting new movie Sweeney Todd at Pinewood Studios, is also accompanied by a security team.

The Mirror knows what Lily-Rose's medical condition is and where she is being treated in the UK but is not revealing details out of respect for family privacy.

Johnny is a dedicated father and has often talked about how Lily-Rose, seven, and four-year-old son John Jack have transformed his life.

He said: "You can't plan the kind of deep love that results in children. Fatherhood was not a conscious decision. It was part of the wonderful ride I was on. All the math finally worked.

"I just want to watch my kids grow up and make sure they're healthy and happy, "They are the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I have never in my life thought it was possible to feel such profound, deep love.

"Being a dad has given me great strength, great perspective, great calm. I'm a total homebody, just hanging out with my kids. More than anything, I love being with my family."

Johnny and 34-year-old French singer Vanessa have been together for nine years. He previously dated Kate Moss and Winona Ryder.

In his latest film Johnny plays Benjamin Barker - better known as the murderous demon barber Sweeney Todd.

Johnny's Pirates of The Caribbean sequel Dead Man's Chest made £536million worldwide. It is the third highest grossing film ever behind Titanic and Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King.

The publicist for Sweeney Todd and Johnny's LA spokesman Robin Baum both declined to comment last night.

h1 Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

Josh Hartnett (below, center) is apparently ready to audition for The Ninth Gate, a mystery involving a rare book dealer’s investigation into the occult and directed Roman Polanski.

Unfortunately, that movie came out in 1999 and starred Johnny Depp (left, right). But who can blame Hartnett for wanting to resemble this talented and eccentric star. From smaller, dynamic roles in films such as the one discussed above to blockbusters like Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp never makes a bad career move.

Or it could be just an amazing coincidence. Regardless, it’s certainly worthy of inclusion in our celebrity look-alikes feature.

Maybe Josh, who is still reeling from his breakup with Scarlett Johansson, believes that if he can copy Johnny Depp’s signature look, he will have better luck with Natalie Portman. Nah, no way she’s gonna let him hit that. Sorry man.

THG NOTE: This is the second celebrity look-alike we’ve featured using a Johnny Depp character - the first being Edward Scissorhands and John Mayer.

Ah, yes, how we love Celebrity Look-Alikes. Most recently, we brought you a couple of dead-ringers, along with two attractive young women who, in actuality, have next to nothing common except for one feature (at least it’s a hot one). And who can forget, before that, the practically indistinguishable Mel Gibson and Saddam Hussein, kindred spirits at heart and in appearance. How can we possibly compete with that masterpiece?

It’s impossible. But we did some outside-the-box (and reality) thinking last night and came up with this pair of oddball characters. Here’s supposed serious musician and supposed Jessica Simpson boyfriend, John Mayer, and Edward Scissorhands! What a couple of freaks!!

NOTE: We are aware that Mr. Scissorhands is not real, and is in fact a movie character played by a young Johnny Depp. So don’t bother e-mailing or calling us about this.

"Rex Mundi": Arvid Nelson's Dark Horse book "Rex Mundi" was optioned by Warner Bros., which is currently developing the property with Johnny Depp's production company. There's a good chance that the quirky actor will also star as the lead: a doctor in search of missing church documents in a 1930s noir world in which the Catholic Church never lost power and the Inquisition still roams town. Nelson said a screenplay by the writer who adapted "Fight Club" should be finished soon. Will audiences be scared off by the story's religious angle? Nelson doesn't think so. "It would be a real mistake" not to make the movie controversial, he said.
