Looking forward to Tim Burton's 'The Corpse Bride'? Yep, me too as I
loved his other stop-motion movie from over ten years ago, The Nightmare
Before Christmas, and I love Johnny Depp too. Depp is joined on The Corpse
Bride by his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory co-star and indeed Tim Burton's
missus, Helena Bonham Carter. The film is out in a couple of weeks, and
will debut at this year's Toronto Film Festival next mont. Here
are a few new images from the movie, released to co-incide with the fest.

"Tim Burton's Corpse Bride" Soundtrack Rises to the Occasion With New Music From Danny Elfman
BURBANK, CA -- 08/25/05 -- Three-time Oscar®-nominated composer Danny Elfman has once again joined forces with director Tim Burton to create the evocative and atmospheric original score for "Tim Burton's Corpse Bride," the eagerly awaited new stop-motion animation film starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Emily Watson.
Set for release September 20th on Warner Sunset Records/Warner Bros. Records, "The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to Tim Burton's Corpse Bride" highlights an original score by Elfman, who has previously collaborated with Burton on such acclaimed films as "Beetlejuice," "Batman," "Big Fish" and the recent "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Elfman relates, "Like 'The Nightmare Before Christmas,' writing songs for 'Corpse Bride' was a real treat. Tim's visuals make the perfect complement for the kind of stuff I love doing most. These wonderfully fun, dark, offbeat tales are the perfect platform for me to write odd, slightly twisted, obscure styles such as my favorite musical era... 1930s jazz. I only hope we get to do more in the future." The soundtrack also features four new songs written by Elfman, three of which include lyrics co-written by John August, including "According To Plan" (performed by Albert Finney, Joanna Lumley, Tracey Ullman and Paul Whitehouse); "Tears To Shed" (performed by Helena Bonham Carter, Jane Horrocks and Enn Reitel), "Remains Of The Day" (performed by Danny Elfman) and "The Wedding Song," written by Danny Elfman (performed by Danny Elfman, Jane Horrocks, Paul Baker, Alison Jiear and Gary Martin).
Continuing in the dark, romantic tradition of "The Nightmare Before
Christmas" and "Edward Scissorhands," "Tim Burton's Corpse Bride" tells
the story of Victor (Johnny Depp), who is whisked away to the underworld
to marry the mysterious Corpse Bride (Helena Bonham Carter) while his real
bride, Victoria (Emily Watson), waits bereft in the Land of the Living.
Exclusive Sneak Peek: Corpse Bride Website
A look at the cool new site for Tim Burton's next film.
by IGN FilmForce
August 17, 2005 - The new Flash website for Tim Burton's Corpse Bride
won't be officially online for a few days, but you can check out an exclusive
sneak preview here on IGN FilmForce.
The stop-motion animated fantasy carries on the dark, romantic tradition
of Tim Burton's classics like Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before
Christmas. The film features the voices of
Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Emily Watson, Albert Finney, Richard
E. Grant, Joanna Lumley and Christopher Lee.
Set in a 19th century European village, the story follows Victor (Depp),
a young man who is whisked away to the underworld and wed to a mysterious
Corpse Bride (Bonham-Carter), while his real bride, Victoria (Watson),
grieves for him in the land of the living. Though life in the Land of the
Dead proves to be a lot more colorful than his strict Victorian upbringing,
Victor learns that there is nothing in this world, or the next, that can
keep him away from his one true love.
The new site features a sweet animated interface that opens with Victor
holding a shiny ring. You can learn more about the movie by clicking through
the themed areas listed on the menu in the traditional way or you can "play"
the site by interacting with the special features on each screen. For example,
the opening screen allows you to put Victor's ring on the Corpse Bride's
finger. She appears and takes you to the Village Square area where you
can learn more about the film's characters and play with a little skeleton
puppy.
Other areas of site include The Pub, where you can watch the trailer
and play a nifty game of darts; The Elder's Study where you can download
desktops (see if you can find the hidden screensavers); Victor's Room where
you can read the film's
synopsis
and production notes; and the Music Room where viewers are treated to samples
of Danny Elfman's score. The animation on the site is tops and the hidden
features make for a fun browsing experience. Check
it out by clicking the link.
Tim Burton directed Corpse Bride with Michael Johnson from a script
by Caroline Thompson and Pamela Pettler. The Warner Bros. Pictures
film hits theaters everywhere on September 23. It's been rated PG
by the MPAA for some scary images and action, and brief mild language.
